Who Are We?
Hi! My name is Kim and I am the owner of Building Blocks. My background is actually in business (holding a bachelors degree in accounting) and have held a variety of positions from accounting, to software consulting, to auditing, to business analysis. The last job position I held was that of a business analyst for a large insurance company in Boston. My husband and I hadn't decided what we would do with regard to my going back to work until after our first daughter was born. It became clear that staying home with her was the right choice for us. Since that time we have had two more daughters and I have been busy raising the girls, continuing my education in child care, running the business, and have been enjoying extra time with my family. It has been almost five years since I left the business world and have enjoyed every minute of this new venture!
I have two incredible assistants who work with me, mother and daughter, actually! They have over 20 years of combined child care experience (that does not include raising own family) and bring a wealth of projects, techniques, and care to our group. Maria and Paulina also are fluent in Spanish which offers us the opportunity to provide a bilingual program. They are not only highly skilled in the field, they are also caring and wonderful people. I am so grateful to be working with them.
Background
As a mother, I realize how important quality child care is and want to be sure my children have an environment in which to flourish with other children. What better way to make that happen than to open my own child care? And here we are! The space was designed free of hazards to allow the children freedom to explore without barriers.
Our Philosophy
At Building Blocks we encourage all children to grow at their own pace in a loving and nurturing environment. Children are able to explore and discover, make new friends, and learn by doing. Self-awareness, socialization, and language development are focal points that are addressed through music and movement, creative arts, and dramatic play. We have an expansive yard for outdoor play as well as our indoor activities.

We are situated off Trapelo Road in Waverley Square (Belmont, MA 02478) near the Shaws and Belmont Car Wash - in the neighborhood behind the Watertown Savings Bank and Dunkin Donuts.
